Injury & Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP)
California law (SB198) requires companies to have an Injury
and Illness Prevention (IIPP) program. Failure to comply with
this law may result in heavy fines and shutdowns for the Company,
and both criminal and civil prosecution of Company officers
and supervisors that are held responsible. Strategic HR can
provide cost-effective, fully compliant IIPP programs that
can help reduce industrial accident and injury rates, lower
workers' compensation premiums, and increase employee productivity.
Strategic HR's IIPP programs include:
- Briefing you on the IIPP Standard and what you must do
to comply with the Regulation, and advising you in some
of the more cost-effective approaches to implementing the
program.
- Preparing an initial draft of a written IIPP program containing
the following required components:
- Designated responsibilities, including the names of
persons responsible for implementing the IIPP.
- A system for identifying and evaluating the workplace
hazards, including periodic inspections.
- Methods for correcting unsafe or unhealthful work
practices or conditions.
- Safety and health training.
- A system for communicating with employees on safety
and health issues and for receiving and acting on employee
input.
- A system for insuring that employees comply with safety
and health practices, including discipline.
- A system for investigating and acting upon reported
work related illnesses and injuries and incidents.
- Questions or input you have regarding the initial draft
will be reviewed with you and incorporated into a final
draft for implementation.
